Now this annoys me. This is an illustration from the fourth Ghoulfriends book. It’s of Dracula talking to the class. It’s one of the rare times we actually see a parent of the main cast… and he’s in silhouette.  I messed around with the picture in photoshop to bring out as much detail as I could, but you can still barely make out his features.
I don’t get why Monster High is so reluctant to show more of the monster’s parents. As far as I’m aware the more famous monsters like Frankenstein’s monster and Dracula are public domain, so Mattel wouldn’t get in trouble for having them appear in webisodes and books. Hell, they made a whole movie starring a Victor Frankenstein that’s vastly different from the traditional version we see in the movies. If they can do that, presenting different versions of these famous monsters shouldn’t be a problem.
I just want more of the monsters interacting with their kids. Frankie asking her parents about everything she needs to know in life. Dracula being a worried dad and trying to persuade Draculaura to drink blood for the sake of her health. Clawdeen trying to teach her mom about fashion and learning to to do several things as once by helping her mom around the house. Abbey arm-wrestling with her father. Medusa keeping an eye on Deuce and Cleo to make sure they’re not up to anything naughty. Things like that. Sometimes the best way to give a character depth is to show the way they interact with their family.

oh christ he has a bat goatee
that’s why, because we all assumed Dracula was going to be very Richard Roxburg The Hot Dad and we ended up with Dracula Unable To Grasp The ’80s Had Passed

I think that might just be a bat-shaped bowtie.
Darko Dordevic, if you happen to read this, could you please show us what your Dracula actually looks like?

They aren’t public domain anymore, They were close, but Universal released that lame movie Hellsing 10 years ago so they can keep the patent on their versions of monsters. BUT Dracula, Frankenstein, Werewolf, are public domain, they just cannot resemble Universal’s Design.
